NH-Gov: Oddly Appropriate

by: Dean Barker

Mon Oct 13, 2008 at 02:00:00 AM EDT

One invisible candidate to stump for another:
U.S. Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) is scheduled to campaign for gubernatorial candidate state Sen. Joe Kenney(R-Wakefield) the same day Gov. Sarah Palin will be in New Hampshire, PolitickerNH.com has learned.
Fun fact: more registered Republicans voted for Barack Obama (1996) and Hillary Clinton (1,828) than for Duncan Hunter (1,192) in the First in the Nation Primary.

On the flip side, I saw my first ever Kenney for Governor sign today, so there's that.

You should see Deerfield. We're plastered with Kenney signs.

some Kenney signs (0.00 / 0)
sprinkled around Caroll County. For the GOP hopelessness springs eternal.

Alas, Duncan, we hardly knew ye. (4.00 / 1)
I saw Hunter at the NHIOP when he was clinging to a wisp of a dream that he could be President.

It was him, me and three or four other guys.

I didn't ask him any gotcha questions.

I figured he was hurting enough.

You know that SNL Weekend Update segment, "Really?!?! with Seth and Amy" (0.00 / 0)
That's how I'd feel given that situation.

Was Hunter (4.00 / 2)
the xenophobe guy? Nah, that was Tancredo.

Who was that guy, anyway?

Hunter was xenophobia + imperialism (4.00 / 1)
He added a military - industrial complex mindset to the Tancredo formula.

He was Giuliani? (4.00 / 1)

Duncan Hunter? (4.00 / 1)
He'll definitely upstage Palin. She might not get any coverage at all.

OK, this is turning into the most fun thread of the week. n/t (0.00 / 0)

Bob Smith endorsed Duncan Hunter! (4.00 / 2)
Don't forget the backing of NH GOP political dynamo Sen. Bob Smith -- he was good for at least 30-35 votes.  (Buffoon Bob also "delivered" for Jack Kemp '88 and Phil Gramm '96.)

Still Remember Hunter Up At Dixville Notch (4.00 / 1)
Sitting on a couch on the grand salon outside the polling place at the Balsams, you could just look him and see the words "so here is where my dream of becoming president finally dies" in his expression.

I took some photos from that day, but not sure if I had one of him. I need a better camera, that moment in time was one that needed to be caught.
