note to close readers: this might be sarcastic so think twice before reading to candidates for use in their attacks on each other

popularity is based on page views... that diary had 2049 page views.

There is no way I know of to find the diaries with the most comments... that would be a fun list!

These two stood out to me (4.00 / 2)
I didn't go through them all, but I see almost everything that happens here.

When a diary breaks 100, that is a milestone. I doubt there are more than 7 that have made it past 125. I'd bet lunch, none have made it past 200 except the one above.

Live blogs get crazy numbers because folks are usually posting a sentence at a time.  I don't count them in the same light.

I'm impressed that, (4.00 / 2)
even leaving aside Tim C.'s rocketship post, in general visits were up from last year.

I fully expected that in an off-election year, especially after a major presidential change with a swing-state senate seat, our visits would demonstrably go down.

I suppose more and more people are getting comfortable with being online in general and blogs in particular.

Nice to be in a growth industry in the middle of a recession, at least!

I think my favorite site visit moment was when I received an email from an anoynmous reader in Italy thanking us in broken English for covering the marriage equality process.

don't forget... (0.00 / 0)
...that new hampshire probably made more national news in 2009 than in 2008, which presumably also drove readership.

Yes, except (0.00 / 0)
the NH-Primary was in 2008, despite most of the hype being in 2007, so that probably trumped both marriage equality and Judd for Commerce as a focus point for out-of-state eyeballs.

The lesson of that most popular of diaries, (4.00 / 2)
If President Obama wants to get re-elected, he really needs to bring back Arrested Development.
