SOTD

SOTD, or, Punching Hippies

by: Dean Barker

Tue Aug 10, 2010 at 19:24:05 PM EDT

"They will be satisfied when we have Canadian healthcare and we've eliminated the Pentagon. That's not reality."

- Robert Gibbs

The isn't the first time this spox has become the story instead of communicating the story.

A different approach might be to spend time getting some of those gen-elex Obama voters out for the mid-terms.  Do that, we win. We win, and then Barry can, um, get more stuff done.

Adding: Time to start a Reid Cherlin for WH Press Secretary FB group? : )

SOTD, or, Great Moments in UL Concern Trolling

by: Dean Barker

Sun Aug 08, 2010 at 19:09:31 PM EDT

The Union Leader stops short of ignoring the Constitution, but still goes there, under the banner of "sensitivity":
What is so offensive is that the people behind this project know the anguish it is causing, most painfully to those who lost friends and loved ones in the attacks nine years ago, and they just don't seem to care.

Hey, UL: New Yorkers are a lot tougher - and a lot more tolerant - than you can possibly imagine.  Some of them even know Muslims who aren't terrorists! I still have more than enough Flatlander in me to say that with some authority.

Stoopid, bigoted, anti-Muslim election gimmicks by wannabe presidents.  Shame on the UL for following along for the ride. That is how we will lose the War on Terror.

SOTD, or, Swett Campaign Losing It

by: Dean Barker

Fri Aug 06, 2010 at 12:09:04 PM EDT

From the latest strain of the one-note campaign, in part:
Blogger Acknowledges Kuster's Lobbying

"Lobbyists give money to both parties? This is shocking."
-- Dean Barker, Managing Editor of www.BlueHampshire.com, sarcastically defending Kuster's contributions to Republican state senate candidates.  www.BlueHampshire.com has endorsed Kuster and has been actively promoting her candidacy.
Well, it wouldn't be the first press release about me, but it's the one that gave me the biggest chuckle.

In other news, I took a different way home than usual an hour ago and found four new Kuster signs on lawns.  Still looking for my first Swett sign sighting.

(NB: SOTD = "Shrill of the Day," a new series I've started.)

Future Fodder for Shrill of the Day

by: Dean Barker

Thu Aug 05, 2010 at 19:12:12 PM EDT

PPP's latest polling in NH had a better margin of error than UNH, stole UNH's narrative setting thunder to some extent, and had the right-wing crying foul over the twin realities that Hodes is actually a lot closer to Ayotte than they want to believe, and that Sarah Palin is a general election albatross.

All of which is going to make today's news that Daily Kos has decided to go with PPP for new polling perfect future fodder for my new Shrill of the Day seies.

Of course, PPP is one of the most credible and accurate pollsters out there, but that's not going to temper the shrill.

Shrill of the Day

by: Dean Barker

Wed Aug 04, 2010 at 18:52:47 PM EDT

Kevin Smith:
"It is very clear from this ruling in California today, coupled with the recent DOMA decision in Massachusetts, that out-of-control liberal activist judges will stop at nothing to redefine marriage for the rest of the country.
I think I am going to make SOTD a new series.

Candidates for the series will include statements that are so hyperbolic that they evince a laugh, thus nullifying their power to persuade.
