In the aftermath of the elections, I've got one more thank-you to give to New Hampshire's Democratic federal delegation, both ongoing and otherwise. And that is one more note of thanks for getting the health care bill passed.
Enough has been said about the specifics of the bill itself, and some people will no doubt comment snippily that it was a health insurance bill rather than a health care bill. I want to thank New Hampshire's Democrats in Congress for helping pass this bill in the face of a hostile and partisan media that says things like this:
Gallup: Four in 10 Americans Believe Healthcare Law Goes Too Far
They could have said this instead:
Gallup: 49% of Americans Believe Healthcare Law Does Not Go Too Far
(Frank Guinta continues to hide from voters and their pesky questions. - promoted by Dean Barker)
I am at the Temple Adeth Yeshurun in Manchester for the traditional final debates. Frank Guinta is not showing up, which is pretty rude, since this is his adopted home town where he was mayor and he knows this is a traditional must stop before general election. He is dis'ing the Queen City.
Kelly Ayotte is not showing up either, which also shows a certain tone deafness, but at least she isn't from Manchester.
So, we will hear from both CSP and Paul, and see the final debate between Governor Lynch and Johnny Stephen.
And ask, why is Frank afraid to face the hometown crowd?
Adding (Dean):
GOTV! GOTV! GOTV! GOTV! GOTV! GOTV! GOTV!

(The following is a letter written by my daughter, Ariana, which I wanted to share with all of you)
You may know Paul Hodes as a public servant, a lawyer, or perhaps as a musician. I know him as something entirely different and unique. With less than a week left to go before New Hampshire decides who they'll send down to the US Senate, I want to tell you what I know about my father.
My father is a man of integrity, thoughtfulness, and strength of character who can stand behind any decision he makes because it's his own. He's smart, kind, and genuinely sensitive to the needs of his constituents; the combination of which allows him to weigh different outcomes of a situation, see the big picture, and understand how individuals might be affected by different decisions.
Out of everything I know about my father, the one thing that proves his earnest desire to do good is a simple choice he made many years ago: the decision he and my mom made to raise their family in New Hampshire.
This is pretty amazing. I think I'll just get out of the way and let the letter below do the talking. It was sent to the Hodes campaign (and reprinted here with the author's permission) after Paul called out the Union Leader for their absurd position on prohibiting same-sex wedding announcements:
Rep. Rhodes,
I must confess that I no longer live at the address I gave. I was born and raised in Claremont my entire adolescence, but left as soon as I got old enough for NYC. The reason I left was because I'm gay, and being in NH is incredibly rough when you're gay.
Recently I joined Dan Savage's It Gets Better Campaign, my video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... and in turn ended up being featured in the NY Times, which is here: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10...
If you have time I would be honored if you watched my video.
I'm contacting you today because of the Union Leader, my uncle's newspaper. Yes, Joe is my uncle, technically great uncle. I saw what he published today and was absolutely disgusted. He has the freedom of the press, he can do whatever he wants, but to sit there and try to feign niceties, "not anti-gay", repulses me on every level.
You can not sit there and preach that gay love is inherently inferior to straight love and wonder why kids are being bullied, literally, to death. Joe has helped dehumanize the gay population, and it's people like him and the vitriol they spew that made my rearing so incredibly difficult. Grade school bullies are enabled by their parent's opinions, and societies morality as a whole, when you silently attack the LGBT population at the ballot box you are a bully, a weak one.
I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you speaking out on this issue. Don't let him off the hook, keep pressing him for answers. What he's doing is so archaic it's hard to believe his piece was published in 2010.
If you need any help with LGBT issues I'm available, I've begun to speak at schools because it is an issue that means the world to me. There is nothing I care more about than equality for everyone, and fighting this kind of hate speech is such an important part of it.
Thank you Rep. Hodes, I wish there was more of you.
Mr. Calvin StowellNew
Calvin's moving "It Gets Better" video is below the fold.
But Philip McLaughlin, the then-attorney general who first hired Ayotte as a prosecutor in 1998, said in an interview last week that while he thinks Ayotte is a "fine attorney," he was troubled by the e-mails.
"When you get on the attorney general e-mail and have those exchanges, it seems to me to be obvious that you have jeopardized the public's right to believe you do things completely apolitically," McLaughlin said.
"I don't know how any adult could read those e-mails and conclude that there was no political consideration. It bothered me to the core when I read it," McLaughlin added.
But really, read the whole thing. Fair use keeps me from quoting so many other key grafs.
Paul Hodes is not going to let the Union Leader's bizarre position in this state or his high-pressure senate race get in the way of standing up for what's right:
I read with deep disappointment that the Union Leader has decided it will not publish the wedding announcement for Greg Gould and Aurelio Tine. The couple is legally getting married this weekend in Portsmouth. Last year New Hampshire legalized same-sex marriage to ensure that everyone has equal opportunity.
It is reprehensible that the Union Leader would exclude legal marriage in New Hampshire from publication because of their right-wing agenda. Legitimate minds can disagree over policy but once the law is settled, the paper should put aside differences and allow all couples to have equal access to their publication.
Mr. Gould and Mr. Tine will become legally married this weekend and they should have the same opportunities as everyone in New Hampshire to have their marriage publicized and recognized. The Union Leader's disgraceful policy of exclusion harkens to a different time in this country when people were denied opportunity because of their race, religion and ethnic origin.
Standing ovation, Congressman! And Paul is absolutely correct: you can't claim to be a paper for the entire state of New Hampshire, while simultaneously wishing away the law of the land.
The Motion for Recusal/Reconsideration overnighted yesterday prompting the immediate hearing instead of a 17 Nov date.

The video with Judge Lynn prompting the Motion to Recuse.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...
Republican Nashua City Chair Dennis Hogan, who just got reprimanded the same time Judge Lynn was reprimanded this year, actually told the Telegraph that I "left voluntarily."
The pictures from other journalists present prove otherwise:
http://christopher-king.blogsp...
What planet are the GOP inhabiting?
Nashua Republican City Chair Dennis Hogan actually stated:
"He left voluntarily. I know that from his own video," Hogan said.
Here's today's story by Patrick Meighan.
Let's start with Kelly Ayotte media man Jeff Grappone and my response:
This is baseless and we will file a motion to dismiss," said Jeff Grappone, spokesman for the Ayotte campaign.
.....Yeah Jeff, the same way that you said the ALT+CONTROL+ DELETE email production lawsuit was an "election year stunt."
You guys just hate the First Amendment, that much is clear. And of course with Judge Lynn on the bench who thinks my activities are "nonsense" you have a fighting chance of winning, I'm just here to convey all of the relevant facts to the public.
That's what journalists do, whether you like it or not, my friend.
[So Jeff, let's see just how far you and a reprimanded Judge who thinks KingCast is "nonsense" will go to set back the First Amendment, and to show the World just what's it's like to practice journalism in the "Live Free or Die" State..... I'm just here to expose each and every step of our journey to the World Public. See you in Court.]
*************
And I almost always win First Amendment cases and I push it hard against Dems and Repblicans, watch Democratic County Commish Mary Jo Kilroy get an earful from Columbus School Board member Loretta Heard back in 1998, and watch Judge Lynn's nasty attitude toward me in 2006 all in one video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...
*********
Now, then, on to the substance, Dennis Hogan, you are crazy. Have you forgotten that I have the audio of our conversation that day?
You say I was not forcibly removed, have you seen the pictures taken by other media with three police officers running me out the door, and on video you can hear them stating that I am going to be arrested both at Arpaio and at VFW. And at VFW the cop clearly says I will be arrested if I try to go in, THAT is what is on the video Man, what planet are you on?

And of course they threatened to call the police

Wow Counselor, if that is the best you can do it's no small surprise that you didn't know you can't represent both husband and wife in a divorce proceeding.

You really should have kept your mouth shut like the other GOP mook because a Jury will find you entirely disingenuous, but thanks for the public statements Counselor.
Very Truly Yours,

The Tea Party is coming to town. Yesterday, Sarah Palin--Kelly Ayotte's biggest supporter--kicked off the Tea Party Express' national tour.
The Tea Party's final stop on their tour will be on the steps of our state house in Concord the night before the election.
Sarah Palin, Karl Rove, Glenn Beck and their friends on the Tea Party Express are working hard on Kelly Ayotte's behalf. Ayotte proudly accepted Palin's endorsement and groups like Karl Rove's American Crossroads and the Glenn Beck-backed Chamber of Commerce have spent millions of dollars to boost her campaign
The UNH Survey Center felt the need to re-issue their earlier poll, apparently. Their new poll has literally all the flaws of their last one and even exaggerates them - like taking the youth vote down to 7% of the electorate from the historical 12-16%. The only positive adjustment was increasing the sample size.
http://kellyayottesenate.blogs...
http://seminal.firedoglake.com... Ayotte claims to be a protector of Women's interests but her tenure as a New Hampshire Attorney General tells quite a different story. She and her crew allowed for bad LE to run amok, assaulting and threatening men, women and children throughout the State of New Hampshire, and that's a FACT.
A new poll is out from ARG, who isn't normally a pollster I put a lot of trust in. Their previous poll was the one that claimed a tie in the gubernatorial race and that Ayotte was winning independents two to one. In this case, though, I think the poll deserves a little notice. For one thing, the demographics actually match state numbers much, much more closely than the risible UNH Survey Center poll from last week (and may even have a slight oversample of Democrats by a point or so, though there's still no cell phones in the sample).
Much more importantly, though, this poll clearly shows that the big mo is on Paul's side! In a matter of two weeks, ARG says he's picked up ten points of support and closed the gap by nine. Both Hodes and Ayotte have their bases behind them, though this sample shows a breathtaking 29-point gender gap (with Paul winning women by 8 and losing men by 21). With an MoE of 4, ARG now shows a race well within the margin of error (and with that MoE, libertarian Ken Blevens could bring in -3% of the vote).
